Since I'm going to be heading up the script-writing forum in Wordsmith Studio (still under construction), I decided to start blogging a bit about my experience with the process.
A few years ago, after I got the urge to learn screenwriting and had written one very rough script on my own, I happened to get back in touch with an old friend from college who asked me if I wanted to collaborate on a project. The timing was perfect and I loved the synchronicity. So we began.
Being that she was an east coast resident and I live on the west coast, we did everything online, taking turns writing several pages at a time. I had Final Draft. She did not. So we wrote in Word and later on, I transferred everything into Final Draft.
That was the beginning of my journey. How should you begin?

I have Scrivener! I love it when movie watching is homework!
ReplyDeleteCool! That's the program my professor recommended for the students that didn't have any screenwriting software. And we used it in class. It's pretty similar to FD.

Oh wait.. it wasn't Scrivener we used in screenwriting class. It was Celtx, which is free on the web. I think CNET is a pretty safe place to do downloads:

Good luck with the screen writing group. I don't think my gifts run that way. I have been thinking of getting Scrivener, but am not even sure as my main focus is poetry that I need it.
ReplyDeleteI remember writing my first script. That was like getting blood out of a stone...13 rewrites...but the thing that made is so worthwhile was seeing the incredibly talented first and second year drama students act it out in front of me.
DeleteHopefuljo, There is a lot writing software available. I think I'm going to write post on it because I have quite a few on my computer. Yeah, you probably don't need Scrivener then if you stick to poetry.
