What to Do When Words Hide (Make Art)

I wanted to write a poem today, but the words would not cooperate. So I played with paper and pens instead to release the pent-up creative energy.

Here is my work-in-progress.

What do you do when you have trouble writing?

My Life Is a Collage

I've been creating collage art for thirty-five years, so when I pondered my attraction to it, I realized that my life is a collage.

My overwhelming desire for knowledge sometimes leaves me scattered. I want to take it all in and wind up with only bits and pieces.

Right now I'm creating a collection of cards I hope to make into a book.

Are you drawn towards an artistic medium that is representative of your personality or life?

Things We Have Learned (a Poem)

Okay, so the word "Have" is missing from the art because I haven't found (or created) it yet. Also, as you will see I did not type up the punctuation exactly the way it shows on the art.

Things We Have Learned

How one

The art of I

making the issue

From eye

Transform

After editing all day, it felt really nice to slap paint onto paper and cut up words with scissors. Aaaahhhh . . . good night.

Word and Photo Potpourri (a Collage Poem)

Life is busy. It's still easier to cut and paste.

A Collage Poem

Hot & Cool

You are
on-the-go beauty
everyone loves
on the street.
You return passion to promise.
You guarantee
40 pages of decadent
secrets. You
transform
my wet
soul.

Keeping it short tonight, so I can get back to my callings.

Get Rid of Everything (except Writing and Reading)

I have been focused on things other than poetry lately and I miss it.

At the same time, I’ve been constantly sitting with words, reading and writing, writing and reading. I needed something active, so I pulled out my collage supplies and put together a couple of new cards.

Collage Art

As a follow-up post to yesterday's on card-making, I am having so much fun making them that I spent all morning making more. I'm about to move on to collage-style cards. This is a sampling of what I made in the past.

I was first inspired by this type of art twenty-plus years ago when I worked with a woman whose husband made very intricate collage pieces.

More recently, some online friends (Tess and Claudia, mainly) introduced me to "Soul Collage," which is what these pieces are inspired by, although I haven't yet done the writing part of these creations.

Now off to write. Happy Tuesday to you!
